Kuniaki Okito traveled around in order to follow the late mother's last wishes, seeking to find and rescue the "girl in the sky," while making a living by performing magic with puppets along the way. One day, Okito arrived at a seaside town where he met Kanrinin Kami, temporarily staying at Kami's house. As Okito spent time with Kami along the journey, he began to suspect that Kami might be the girl he had been searching for all along.
